New Year, New Project!
We are very excited for this next year. We have a couple big changes coming that deal with the farm and our personal life that we have really been working on and are looking forward to! Hopefully, you are excited about some of these changes as well!
Freezer Meat
We hope to offer our most popular cuts by the pound.
We are working very hard on expanding our freezer meat operation this next year. Right now we only offer halves and wholes of both beef and pork. This is because when we sell an animal like that they can be processed by a non-USDA inspected processor, which is a lot easier to find and get appointments. We are working on being able to sell individual cuts of beef and pork to customers who do not want to make the larger purchase of buying a half or whole animal.
Making Sure We Are Legal!
In order to sell frozen meat by the cut, we have to jump through a couple more hoops. We have to have the animal processed at a USDA-inspected facility. This means that there is an inspector on the kill floor when the animal is being processed. When we bring the frozen meat home we have to have USDA inspected freezers to store the meat in. This is to make sure the meat stays in a clean environment and isn't going to make anyone sick. We also have to have a special license in order to sell the meat by the cut, which of course takes time and money to get.
Beef by the pound will allow more people access to delicious steaks and burger!
Bringing Our Product to Everyone!
We hope that by selling meat in smaller bundles or individually by the cut we can expand our freezer meat operation. We would really like to have a larger base of freezer meat customers and share not only the best beef or pork you'll ever taste but information on how a modern farm operates. Above all else, it is our duty to make sure that people are informed on agricultural practices and the decisions we make as producers. We want to start a conversation where we can clear up any misunderstandings about modern agriculture and explain the technology we use to grow your food efficiently and safely.
